3ds Max Modifiers frequently used list

I been practising modelling meshes for 3ds Max and there are quite a few modifiers that I often use. For reference I will list most of the modifiers I used often with their description for me and for you. You can also treat this as a tutorial. If you like.

- Taper Lets you have large section at the top and small section at the bottom or vice versa.
- FFD 2-2-2 to 4-4-4 (free form deformation) Put a mesh in a cage that can be push and full to deform the model very useful for deformity. It uses various control points in the cage.
- Bend As the name sugges it lets you bend a model in a curve.
- Shell Gives thickness to a flat surface good for spline modelling.
- Edit Splines Gives you control over vertices of the shape or lines you created.
- Skin I use this for animation certain or whole part of the mesh.
- Extrude Lets you extrude a mesh, can also be applied to faces of a mesh.
- Lattice Lets you transform your mesh to wireframe basing on the edge of your mesh.
- Lathe Very useful modifier that lets you transform a simple spline to full pledge object. For example create a bowl from a semy circle spline.
- UVW Map Lets you modify the orientation of a Map applied to a mesh. Sometimes its the easier way to set up your map compare to Unwrap UVW. Lets you orientate eg. plannar, cylindrical etc.
- Twist Twist the mesh from the center gizmo. Like a sundae.
- Spherify Tries to make a sphere out of the mesh base on its vertex.
- MeshSmooth Smoothen edges of a mesh adding more vertex. Slower than turbo smooth but has more options.
- TurboSmooth Like meshsmooth. Faster and good to apply on complex polygons.
- Surface Creates a patch base on the cage the splines has created they must be aligned and snap to work properly.
- Stretch Stretches selected object or subjects to have a bulge and stretches vertices based on its parameters.
- Displace Good for creating landscapes, this will lets load bitmaps or map with black and white shades that predicts extrusion depending on that.
- Slice Basically creates an opening to any object the plane is intersected this is useful if you want to see whats inside of an object. See viewport to show face to see the result.
- Noise Makes an object looks worn out. Good for making an object looks old and worn down. Use fractal to see a more obvious result.
